1. When and where are your dances held?
Our dances take place every second Saturday of the month at the Elks Lodge in Tulsa.
2. How much does it cost to attend?
For non-members, the entry fee is $15, while members enjoy a discounted rate of $10. Membership costs vary throughout the year, starting at $24 in January and decreasing monthly until December 31st. However, membership isn't required to attend our dances.
3. Do I need to come with a partner?
No, you don't need to bring a partner! Our community is friendly and welcoming. People often ask others to dance and introduce themselves, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to join in.
4. Is there a dress code for the dances?
While there's no strict dress code, we encourage dressing comfortably and neatly. Some attendees like to dress according to the theme (which changes for each dance), but it's not mandatory. Most dress as if going to a nice restaurant.
5. What kind of music can I expect?
Our music selection primarily focuses on ballroom and Latin dancing, with a mix of country, West Coast Swing, and Lindy. It's a diverse mix to keep everyone moving!
6. Can I find dance instructors or studios through your events?

7. What is the "waterfall" at your dances?
The waterfall is a fun way to meet new people! Gentlemen line up on one side, ladies on the other, and they take turns dancing down the floor with different partners before rejoining the line. It's an excellent opportunity to meet friendly dancers.

Absolutely! Our dances are open to dancers of all ages, and we are particularly welcoming to beginners. It's a fantastic environment to learn and enjoy dancing.

10. What's the Mini Match event in March about?
Our Mini Match takes place before the regular dance in March, running from 9 am to 6 pm. It's free to watch, but donations are encouraged to support the Team Awesome Project, which offers free virtual dance classes for individuals on the Autism spectrum or with intellectual disabilities. You will get to watch dancers of levels and ages.
11. Can I attend the dance class if I'm new to dancing?
Of course! Our dance class from 7 pm to 8 pm is open to everyone, including beginners. It's a great way to learn some moves before the main dance starts.
12. How long has Ballroom Dancers of Tulsa been around?
We've been a part of Tulsa's dance community for 40 incredible years! In fact, this year marks our 40th anniversary.
13. What's the new initiative, TEAM AWESOME, about?
TEAM AWESOME is a project close to our hearts. We're bringing in top coaches from around the world for workshops that are open to the public. Proceeds from these workshops fund free virtual dance classes for adults and children on the Autism spectrum or with intellectual disabilities. If you're interested in joining these classes or know someone who might benefit, reach out to us for more information.

No pre-registration is required! You can simply show up at the Elks Lodge on the scheduled dance night and pay the entry fee at the door.
22. What happens during the dance class at 7 pm?
The dance class serves as a warm-up and learning opportunity for attendees. Our experienced instructors guide participants through various dance moves, catering to different skill levels. Each month is a different instructor and different dance.
23. Can I purchase a membership at any time during the year, or are there specific periods for registration?
You can purchase a membership at any time during the year. The membership fee decreases gradually by $2 each month from January to December, expiring on December 31st, regardless of when it was purchased. Membership is $24 when purchased January.
24. Are there opportunities for socializing beyond dancing during the events?
Absolutely! Our community is known for its friendly atmosphere. Besides dancing, attendees often mingle, chat, and socialize during breaks or before/after the dances.
25. Can I request specific dance genres or songs during the event?
Our DJs curate the music playlist for each dance, but we always appreciate suggestions but have a set play list for each dance. On your table comes a list of the songs we will play for the night and what dance is best to dance to that music. Makes it easy to know what is coming up next. Feel free to pass along your song requests to the organizers, and we'll do our best to accommodate them at a future dance.
26. Is parking available at the Elks Lodge, and is there a cost?
